BC Quorum Court to consider nearly $1.5 million for airport projects

The Baxter County Quorum Court will consider appropriating nearly $1.5 million in reimbursable state and federal grant funds for the Baxter County Airport during its regular session Tuesday evening at 5:30.

The largest item on the agenda is an ordinance appropriating $1,493,557.63 in reimbursable state and federal grant funds for the Baxter County Airport. The ordinance would also transfer $82,617.98 from the county’s Airport Operating Fund into the Airport Grants Fund and appropriate the money for several airport projects, including new hangar construction and taxi rehab phases II and III.

In other new business, justices will consider an ordinance appropriating $29,890.71 in fees and reimbursements received in July to the sheriff’s office 2026 budget. Additional appropriations include $18,000 for the county coroner’s 2026 budget, $30,896.50 in county general revenue funds for the purchase of vehicles, and $45,000 from the Special Jail Fees Fund into the Jail Maintenance & Operations 2026 Budget.

The court will also consider appropriating $215,000 from the sale of the Health Department Building to the Coroner’s Building Revenue Fund into the coroner’s building 2026 budget, and $3,752.56 from the Adult Drug Court Opioid Settlement Fund into the Adult Drug Court budget.

The court will hear a presentation from the Historical Society regarding the Casey House Phase 2 renovation and vote on a $5,000 appropriation into the Casey House Restoration Grant Fund for professional services.

Two resolutions are included on the agenda. One would confirm the appointment of Randy Coy and reappointments of John Vanderwerf and Debbie Rowland to the Norfork Volunteer Fire Department Board of Commissioners. The other would confirm the appointment of Russell Gillis to the Hand Cove Fire Protection District Board of Commissioners.

The Quorum Court will also consider an ordinance amending Ordinance 2026-35 to correct a scrivener’s error in an appropriation account number.

The meeting will take place in the second-floor courtroom of the Baxter County Courthouse and is open to the public.
