
Central Arkansas mounted a furious fourth-quarter rally but fell short in a 35-32 loss to Lamar on Saturday at Provost Umphrey Stadium.
The Bears (1-4) trailed 35-17 entering the final period before scoring 15 unanswered points to close the gap. Their last drive reached the Lamar 37-yard line in the closing seconds, but a fourth-down pass into the end zone was broken up.
Quarterback Austin Myers went 25 of 41 for 358 yards and three touchdowns, while Landen Chambers rushed for 136 yards and a score on 31 carries. Malachi Henry led Central Arkansas receivers with nine catches for 113 yards and two touchdowns.
Lamar (3-1) built its lead behind quarterback Aiden McCown, who threw three touchdown passes, including two in the third quarter that stretched the Cardinals’ advantage to 35-17.
Central Arkansas returns home next Saturday to face Utah Tech at Estes Stadium.
