Baxter County Quorum Court approves appropriations, appointment during Tuesday meeting

The Baxter County Quorum Court met Tuesday evening, approving several appropriations and a new appointment while also hearing a presentation from the county’s extension office.The meeting opened with the treasurer’s report, and officials noted there were no committee reports this month. Amanda Rhyctarik with the county extension office gave a presentation.

Justices of the Peace then approved four appropriation ordinances, each passing unanimously by a 10–0 vote. Ordinance 2025-47 appropriated $6,876.70 to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office 2025 budget, while Ordinance 2025-48 allocated $10,619.33 from the county general fund to juvenile services. Ordinance 2025-49 moved $13,886.74 from the county general fund into the building and grounds fund as reimbursement from insurance, and Ordinance 2025-50 transferred $23,000 from the special jail fees fund and $6,000 from the county detention center fund into the jail’s maintenance and operations budget.

The court also approved Resolution 2025-25, appointing Bill Caller to the Henderson Volunteer Fire Department Board of Commissioners.

County officials briefly discussed an executive order related to the operation of utility task vehicles (UTVs) in Baxter County. No formal action was taken on the matter Tuesday night.

County and Circuit Clerk Canda Reese announced that the candidate filing period for the upcoming election will open at noon on Nov. 3 and close at noon on Nov. 12.
