
The latest unemployment numbers from the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services and the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center show unemployment rates have remained steady in north central Arkansas and were improved in southern Missouri in September when compared to the August numbers.
In Baxter County, the rate bumped up from 4.5% in August to 4.6% in September. Baxter County’s rate is tied for the 38th lowest out of Arkansas’ 75 counties. There are 785 unemployed Baxter County residents out of a work force of 16,919.
Marion County’s rate went up from 6.1% in August to 6.2% in September, which is the 6th highest rate in the state. Marion County has 334 residents out of work from a labor force of 5,347.
Fulton County’s unemployment rate stayed the same at 5.4% in September, which means they are tied for the 57th lowest rate in the state. Fulton County has a labor force of 4,081 and 220 are unemployed.
The unemployment rate in Izard County went down from 6.9% in August to 6.8% in September, which is the 2nd highest unemployment rate in the state. There are 278 Izard County residents unemployed out of a work force of 4,068.
Stone County saw its rate decrease from 5.9% in August to 5.8% in September. That ranks Stone County tied for 65th in the state. There are 4,157 in the labor force in Stone County with 240 unemployed.
Searcy County’s unemployment rate moved up from 4.2% to 4.5% in September, ranking them tied for 33rd lowest in Arkansas. There are 142 people unemployed in Searcy County out of a work force of 3,149.
Boone County saw its rate stay the same at 4.2% in September, putting them in a tie for the 15th lowest rate in the state. Boone County has a work force of 16,546 with 694 out of work.
Newton County is tied for the state’s 48th lowest unemployment rate at 4.9%, up from 4.7% the previous month. Newton County has a labor force of 2,656 with 129 of those unemployed.
Arkansas’s state unemployment rate in September was 3.9%, up from 3.8% in August.
In southern Missouri, Ozark County’s rate was at 5.4% in August, significantly down from 6.8% in September. Ozark County had 179 unemployed out of a workforce of 3,292.
Douglas County saw its rate ease up to 5.3% in August from 5.2% in September. Douglas County has a labor force of 5,109 with 272 unemployed.
Howell County’s rate had a big drop from 5.3% in August to 4% in September. In Howell County, there are 666 unemployed out of a workforce of 16,657.
Taney County’s rate had an decrease, dropping to 4% in August compared to 5% in September. Taney County’s labor force is 27,471 with 1,108 unemployed.
Missouri’s state unemployment rate dropped from 4.5% in August to 3.5% in September.
