Conference play brought a mix of nail-biters and decisive statements Friday night, with Yellville-Summit’s boys and both Bergman squads turning in headline performances as area teams battled for position in the standings.

At Yellville, it was senior night as the Panthers’ boys protected their home floor, slipping past Cave City 53-50 in a tight contest that came down to the final possessions. The Yellville-Summit girls weren’t as fortunate, falling to Cave City 51-41 despite a competitive effort. On the road, Cotter split its games at Viola. The Warriors’ boys delivered a strong showing in a 62-44 win, while the Lady Warriors came up short, 62-43. Salem’s boys ran into a tough Flippin squad and dropped a 71-36 decision.

Bergman enjoyed one of the night’s most complete outings, sweeping Valley Springs in convincing fashion. The Lady Panthers earned a solid 46-34 win, and the boys followed with a dominant 71-39 victory. Mountain View also split at home against Melbourne, with the Lady Yellowjackets securing a 51-43 win, while the boys fell in a close 48-45 game.

Elsewhere, Harrison endured a difficult night against Greenwood, as the Lady Goblins fell 62-52 and the Goblins dropped a 55-37 contest. In Calico Rock, the Pirates’ boys defended their home court with a 59-51 victory over Concord in a Pirates-versus-Pirates matchup. With several tight games and a few statement wins, the conference races continue to take shape as teams move deeper into league play.
