Moberly Area Community College swept ASU-Mountain Home in a Thursday doubleheader at Cooper Park, winning 15-9 and 10-4.
In the opener, both offenses came out swinging. Moberly struck first on a two-run homer in the opening inning, but ASUMH answered immediately when Broc Mattox launched a three-run shot to give the Trailblazers a 3-2 lead. JoJo Martinez added a solo home run in the second as ASUMH briefly stayed in front.
Moberly regained control in the third and added insurance throughout the game, finishing with 16 hits. ASUMH mounted its biggest push in the sixth, scoring five runs highlighted by a solo homer from Ty Watkins and RBI singles from Chase Plowman and Rylan Jones, but the comeback fell short.
Mattox drove in three runs for ASUMH, while Martinez collected two hits. Ty Tilton took the loss after allowing nine runs in three innings.
The nightcap remained close early. Moberly opened the scoring in the first, but ASUMH tied the game on an error and later took a 3-1 lead in the fourth on a two-run home run by Gabe Flores.
The game turned in the sixth inning when Moberly exploded for seven runs, capped by a three-run homer that put the contest out of reach. Flores led ASUMH offensively with two hits and two RBIs.
Keaton Matlick started for the Trailblazers, while Lance Lundine was charged with the loss in relief.
