
The first official race for a seat on the Baxter County Quorum Court developed on day two of the filing period on Friday. Incumbent Justice of the Peace Lucille Lucy Soltysik filed for re-election to the Position 2 seat on the court, setting up a race with challenger Aaron Bristol who filed on Thursday.
Fridays filings also saw a three-way race develop for a seat on the Norfork School Board. Shannon Moody filed for the Position 5 seat on the school board. On Thursday, incumbent Mike Watts filed for the seat, along with challenger Chad Maple.
Also filing in Baxter County on Friday were incumbent Gary Smith for the Position 1 seat on the quorum court, incumbent Kevin Litty for the Position 10 seat and incumbent Edna-Marie Fusco for the Position 8 seat.
There were also two additional filings for constable seats, Michael L. Holland for District 9 and Steven Raines for District 10.
One additional political filing was reported Friday in Marion County.
Marion County and Circuit Clerk Dawn Moffet says Russell Stockdale filed for the District 3 seat on the quorum court.
In Izard County, Phillip Edwards filed on Friday for the Melbourne School Board and Timothy Whitehurst for Millcreek constable. In addition, two people filed for Izard County Quorum Court, Thomas Rushing for District 2; and Seth Lee Englehardt for District 6.
On the opening day of filing on Thursday afternoon, 10 filings were completed in Izard County.
At the top of the ballot, Eric Smith filed for county judge; Earnie Blackley for sheriff; Shelly Downing for county and circuit clerk; Warren Sanders for treasurer; and Marilyn Downing for collector.
Four people filed for the Izard County Quorum Court, Jared Johnson for District 3; John David Miller for District 5; Brian Biard for District 7; and Richard “Rich” Emmens for District 9.
Also filing was George Whitfield for Gid constable.
The filing period closed at noon Thursday.
