A Fulton County man, 27-year-old Cody Clayton of Ash Flat, is facing three felony counts following an incident in which he is alleged to have choked his mother while simultaneously singeing her hair with the flame from a lighter.
According to the probable cause affidavit, a Fulton County Sheriff’s deputy arrived at a residence along Abney Lane on August 4th where he found a woman coming out of the bushes crying.
The woman told the officer her son, identified as Clayton, threatened to “put a knife through yall’s heads if I find out you’re stealing my beer,” then placed her in a chokehold. She said Clayton choked her to the point she could not breath or talk. She said she could hear a clicking sound and discovered it was a lighter. Clayton allegedly put the lighter to her hair and singed it while he continued to choke her.
The woman said as Clayton continued to choke her, he drug her to her bedroom, where he let her go, allowing her to escape to the woods. The officer noted marks on the woman’s neck and chest area.
The report notes Clayton was belligerent and disorderly when the officer made contact with him.
The Fulton County man is charged with felony counts of aggravated assault on a family or household member and two counts of terroristic threatening, as well as a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. His bond was set at $15,000.
