A Mountain Home woman, 26-year-old Samantha Jo Carter, has been arrested and charged with arson in connection with an early morning house fire Tuesday at 239 Morris Street in Mountain Home. Carter’s arrest follows the Mountain Home woman allegedly admitting to using gasoline to ignite a bed and curtains located in a bedroom of the residence.
Mountain Home Fire Chief Ken Williams says Carter’s arrest follows a joint investigation between his department and the Mountain Home Police Department.
The investigation revealed Carter is the occupant of the home owned by Kathy Beckham.
Chief Williams says the blaze was contained to the bed and curtains by fire personnel. Firemen had arrived to find light smoke coming from the house.
No injuries were reported.
Carter is being held on a $5,000 bond.
