An area man was killed in a two-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon in Missouri. Forty-seven-year-old Randy Brooks of West Plains was pronounced dead after being transported by ambulance to Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Brooks was traveling on U.S. Highway 63 nearly 5 miles south of Houston when his pickup truck struck another truck, driven by 25-year-old Michael Lee of Raymondville, traveling in the opposite direction. Both vehicles came to rest in the northbound lane.

Brooks was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt. Lee was also transported to Texas County Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

Both vehicles were totaled in the 1 p.m. accident. Brooks’ death is the fourth fatality reported by Troop G this year, compared to two at the same time in 2020.
