
The office of Arkansas Commissioner of State Lands Tommy Land held a recent auction of tax-delinquent properties in Baxter and Stone counties. In a news release, Land stated the auction raised over $300,000.
The auction reportedly had 22 registered bidders purchasing 69 of 120 available parcels. In Baxter County, 114 parcels were offered, and 64 were sold for a total of $261,393 with $25,291 in collected taxes. Five of the six parcels in Stone County were sold for $38,700 with $2,697 in taxes.
Land says the auction in 2023 sent $168,336 to Baxter and Stone counties to assist with funding for everything from roads to schools. The turnback amount was $134,993 for Baxter County and $33,343 for Stone County.
This year’s auction offered parcels with taxes delinquent since 2019. Unsold parcels will be availalbe after 30 days and can be purchased through an online auction by viewing the Post-Auction Sales List at cosl.org.
