
The Cotter High School basketball teams had mixed results as they hosted Yellville-Summit on Friday.
The Lady Warriors defeated the Lady Panthers 53-36. Kylee Chastain led Cotter with 26 points, and Shawna Foster added 11. The Lady Warriors improve to 4-2 on the season.
Cotter came up just short in the boys’ contest. The Warriors were edged out by Yellville-Summit 48-47.
Izard County was able to pick up a three-game sweep over Ozark Catholic.
The Cougars won the senior boys’ game over the Griffins 62-55. Izard County was led by Kasen Black with 17 points, Gabe Spray scored 15, and Sebastian Robbins chipped in 11. The Cougars start the season at 1-0.
Izard County put the mercy rule in effect in the senior girls’ contest as they routed Ozark Catholic 61-30. Quinn Johnson was the Lady Cougars’ top scorer with 20 points, and Tinley Bailey and Olivia Spray each had 13. Izard County’s record begins at 1-0.
The evening began with Izard County’s junior boys beating Ozark Catholic 48-43. Benaiah Spray paced the Junior Cougars with 30 points. Izard County improves to 2-0 on the year.
Marshall split its high school games with Mount Vernon-Enola. The Lady Bobcats squeaked by the Lady Warhawks 52-50. Marshall had a different result in the boys’ game as they lost to Mount Vernon-Enola 77-73.
Timbo’s girls had a rough outing on the road. In a battle between Lady Tigers, Timbo fell to Maynard 78-29.
Mountain View split its high school games with West Side at Greers Ferry. The Yellowjackets got past the Eagles 62-59 in the boys’ game. Mountain View did not fare as well in the girls’ contest as they lost to West Side 52-50.
Lead Hill was swept in its high school games by Bergman.
The Tigers lost the varsity boys’ game to the Panthers 72-42. Lead Hill was led by Kaden Baker with 10 points. Lead Hill’s next game will be Monday in the Arvest Bank Tournament at Flippin against either Timbo or Alpena.
The night wasn’t any better for Lead Hill’s girls. The Lady Tigers fell to Bergman 74-14.
The junior varsity boys’ game ended with Lead Hill losing to Bergman 33-19. Landon Henson was the J.V. Tigers’ leading scorer with 10 points.
Valley Springs had mixed results in its high school games with Sloan-Hendrix.
The Lady Tigers topped the Lady Greyhounds 51-45. Macy Willis led Valley Springs with 16 points.
Valley Springs did not fare as well in the boys’ game. The Tigers lost to Sloan-Hendrix 63-55.
