High school basketball makes up much of the local Thursday schedule as regional tournaments continue in Arkansas, and district play resumes in Missouri.
The opening round of the Class 3A Region 2 Tournament will come to an end at Melbourne. On the girls’ side, the host Lady Beakatz meet Rivercrest at 4, and Bergman faces Harrisburg at 7. On the boys’ bracket, Flippin takes on Newport at 5:30, and Bergman plays Rivercrest at 8:30.
Three area teams will compete on the second night of the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament at West Side High School in Greers Ferry. In the girls’ games, Rural Special gets underway with Maynard at 4, and Viola will be paired with Marked Tree at 7. Rural Special’s boys meet Crowley’s Ridge Academy at 8:30.
The Izard County boys will be at Riverside High School in Lake City for their opener in the Class 2A Region 2 Tournament. The Cougars face the host Rebels at 5:30.
Two area teams will have their first games in the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament at Magazine. Omaha’s girls take on the host Lady Rattlers at 7, and the Lead Hill boys play Scranton at 8:30.
Ozark Mountain’s boys will be in Hackett for their opening game of the Class 2A Region 1 Tournament. The Bears will be matched up with Mountainburg at 5:30.
The Bakersfield girls return to Fordland for the semifinals of the Class 2, District 10 Tournament. The Lady Lions face the host Lady Eagles at 7:30.
