The Mountain Home High School girls’ basketball team is one win away from punching its ticket to Hot Springs. The Lady Bombers were able to hold off Nettleton 45-39 in the quarterfinals of the Class 5A State Tournament at Greene County Tech High School in Paragould.
Mountain Home struggled shooting from the floor in the early going as all four of their first quarter points came at the free throw line, but the Lady Raiders had their own issues as all nine of their points in the period came from Kinsley Patterson. The offense started improving for the Lady Bombers in the second quarter, and they went into the locker room down one. The game was back and forth for much of the second half as the game ended up with 13 lead changes and eight ties. With less than two minutes left, Nettleton tied the game with a three-pointer, but it would be the last time they would score. Mountain Home finished the game on a 6-0 run to seal the victory.
Brooklynn Mitchell, Laykin Moore and Livi Fosness led the Lady Bombers with 11 points each. Patterson scored 17 points for the Lady Raiders, and Tori Cunningham added 10.
Nettleton ends its season at 19-13. Mountain Home improves to 26-6, and they’ll return to Eagle Arena on Saturday at noon for a semifinal matchup with Greene County Tech.
