Thursday results include MHHS softball team suffering 1st loss of season

The Mountain Home High School softball team ended up suffering its first loss of the season on Thursday. The Lady Bombers fell to Van Buren by a final of 12-9. Mountain Home drops to 5-1 on the year and 3-1 in the 5A-West.
Mountain Home later lost the junior varsity game to Van Buren 8-5.

In other softball, Yellville-Summit was able to pick up a conference win on the road. The Lady Panthers defeated Valley Springs 17-2.

Izard County went to Newark and came away with a 5-3 win over Cedar Ridge. Megan McBride was the victor as she pitched a complete game, recorded 10 strikeouts and gave up five hits and two walks, and she also led the Lady Cougar offense with two hits and an RBI. Kallie Skidmore added two hits, Hollie Johnson provided a hit and drove in a run, and Reese Johnson and Willow Warden each recorded a hit. Izard County improves to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the 2A-2.

Mammoth Spring ended up suffering a conference loss at Marshall. The Lady Bears fell to the Lady Bobcats 14-3.

Melbourne had a dominating performance in front of the home crowd. The Lady Bearkatz shut out Cave City 15-0.

Lead Hill was able to hold on for a high-scoring victory. The Lady Tigers squeaked by Ozark Mountain 25-24.

Harrison suffered a 5A-West defeat in front of its home crowd. The Lady Goblins lost to Alma 13-3.

In baseball, Norfork had a rough outing on the road. The Panthers ended up falling to Viola 14-4.

Flippin picked up a conference road victory. The Bobcats got past Mountain View by a score of 10-8.

Yellville-Summit had a tough day at the Equity Bank Sports Complex in Harrison. The Panthers were shut out by Valley Springs 10-0.

Salem had a successful trip to Bergman. The Greyhounds breezed past the Panthers 17-2.

Lead Hill had a good performance on its home turf. The Tigers topped Ozark Mountain 15-5.
