A California man was arrested at the Department of Human Services office in Mountain Home early Wednesday afternoon after some tense moments when a man with a gun was on the phone talking about killing someone and making threats in the office. Officers arrested 33-year-old Demarkus Antonio Brown of Los Angeles without incident.

According to the probable cause affidavit from the Mountain Home Police Department, witnesses report Brown came into the office to fill out an application for SNAP benefits. One person heard him say “I’’m going to kill you. You’’ve got notice. You hear that? I’’m going to kill you.” The witness went through a locked door and continued to listen and heard Brown say he would kill the police too.

The witness told her supervisor and continued listening and heard Brown say the simplest solution is to take a life, then you won’’t have to deal with it anymore. He also said he is from out of state handling business and “I’’m a real (N word), law enforcement has no authority over me. I’’m a real (N word).”

Brown then went to a window and when asked if he needed anything he said he was just filling out his paper work and then said ““I’’m a (N word) with a gun, and if everything goes okay back there, it will be fine, understand? I’’m just sitting over here filling out my application.””

A check of the National Crime Information Center revealed Brown is a convicted felon from Texas for obstruction or retaliation for threatening to kill an officer.

Brown is facing felony charges of terroristic threatening and possession of firearms by certain persons. He is being held in the Baxter County Detention Center with bond set at $250,000.
