Gainesville began hosting the Class 1, District 4 Softball Tournament on Monday.
Bakersfield won their opener as they posted the 8-0 shutout over another group of Lady Lions from Mansfield. Bakersfield improves to 10-8 on the season.
Gainesville was also able to advance to the semifinals as they defeated Dora 12-7. The host Lady Bulldogs are now 13-7. The Lady Falcons’ season ends at 0-11.
Ava’s softball team is one win away from a state tournament bid. The Lady Bears doubled up Houston 8-4 in the semifinals of the Class 2, District 4 Tournament at Mountain Grove. Ava’s record is now 19-4.
In high school baseball, Bakersfield fell to Norwood 3-0, and Gainesville topped Alton 12-6.
