Cathy Beckham was given the surprise of her career last week as she was honored as Mountain Home Public Schools (MHPS) Teacher of the Year for 2025. The long serving MHPS educator says she was busy getting ready for graduation when she found out she had been chosen for the award.

Beckham, who serves in the high school as the Work Based Learning Coordinator, began her career thirty-two years ago as an elementary teacher at Nelson Wilks Elementary and then as a 4th grade teacher at Guy Berry. With her experience in the class room, she says education has made a lot of positive changes even if at times she misses a simpler approach to teaching.
