A local organization that has been hard at work bringing hope to victims of child trafficking is marking an important milestone this year. Into the Light, a faith based nonprofit founded in Mountain Home, is celebrating 10 years of providing advocacy, intervention and providing hope to children and adult victims of these crimes.

In 2012 it all began when Heather Kasper was compelled to take action and approached the leaders of her church with a simple question, “what can we do about child sex trafficking?” A small group formed from these discussions and by 2015 Into the Light became an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Chris Carter, a founding board member, says most residents are unaware that this issue effects children here locally and the need has caused the organization to spread around the state.

The work of the group has even had an international impact as in the case of a child survivor reunited with her mother in Guatemala in 2020. For Carter this is just one example of the countless lives touched by those advocating to bring an end to trafficking in the state.
