A Marion County man has been arrest on child porn charges following an investigation by the Arkansas State Police (ASP) and the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI). Being held in the Marion County Detention Center is 31-year-old John David Edwards of Yellville.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the ASP received a case in April that was transferred from an agent with the GBI who had been investigating Edwards. The agent was acting on a cyber tip generated by Google and submitted to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Google reported 34 files of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) were uploaded by the account holder.
The investigation tracked Edwards to a motel in Mountain Home earlier this year and eventually to an address in Yellville.
When the ASP took over, they obtained a search warrant and seized six digital devices. During an interview, Edwards admitted he had uploaded CSAM and looked at child pornography for about one year because it gave him a thrill, but after a while he was disgusted by it.
Edwards is facing 30 felony counts of possession of use of child sexual abuse material. His bond is set at $50,000.
