A Louisiana woman was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly crashing her vehicle into a house.

Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery said that deputies received a 911 call shortly after 10 of a vehicle that had intentionally crashed into a house on Larkspur Lane, north of Mountain Home.

When deputies arrived, they determined that the driver of the vehicle, 49-year-old Shannon Marie Langevin of Prairieville, Louisiana, was the mother and grandmother of several of the people inside the residence.

Deputies determined that the residence was a vacation rental property and that the residents, who were from Louisiana and Georgia, were staying there along with Langevin.

Victims and witnesses said Langevin arrived at the residence intoxicated and was attempting to leave with her grandchildren. Langevin was reportedly escorted outside the residence, and according to witnesses, got into her rental car, backed up and then purposely drove the vehicle through two sliding glass doors.

The vehicle entered the house approximately six feet, causing extensive damage to the house. Two of Langevin’s grandchildren were playing in the room that she reportedly crashed into, Montgomery said.

Langevin was arrested and charged with nine felonies stemming from the incident. Those charges include six counts of aggravated assault on a family or household member, two counts of aggravated assault, and 1st degree criminal mischief.

Langevin was also charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, 2nd degree assault on a family member, driving while intoxicated, refusing to submit to a breathalyzer test, reckless driving and driving on a suspended license.

She was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center and is being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in Baxter County Circuit Court on April 22.
