A few area teams continued action in the Izard County Tournament Wednesday at Cave City.
Calico Rock to advance to the third place game on the senior boys’ bracket. The Pirates beat up on the host Cavemen 71-45.
Calico Rock did not fare as well in senior girls’ action as they fell to Izard County 57-36. Makensie Yancey led the Lady Cougars with 21 points, and Quinn Johnson added 14.
Melbourne’s junior boys were able to finish in fifth place in the tournament. The Junior Bearkatz defeated Mountain View 41-30.
Mountain View was more fortunate on the junior girls’ side as they advanced to Saturday’s title game. The Junior Lady Yellowjackets topped Cave City 31-19.
Two area teams took part in the semifinals of the Anstaff Bank Green Forest Holiday Tournament.
Lead Hill’s boys were sent to the consolation bracket. In a battle between Tigers, Lead Hill lost to Green Forest by a final of 84-54.
The Omaha girls were able to advance to the championship game. The Lady Eagles breezed past Lincoln 47-20, and they’ll face Kingston on Satuday.
Valley Springs’ boys lost their opener in the Petit Jean Basketball Classic at Morrilton. The Tigers fell to the host Devil Dogs 65-42.
