The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is updating its Shoreline Management Plan for Bull Shoals Lake, and local citizens will be given opportunities to learn about the process and give comments to the Corps. Public scoping workshops will be held Monday through Friday in five different area locations.
The opening workshop will be Monday at Forsyth Public School, the next stop will be Flippin Middle School on Tuesday, Wednesday's location will be Lutie School in Theodosia, ASU-Mountain Home's Vada Sheid Community Development Center will host the Thursday workshop, and the last session will be Friday on the center campus of North Arkansas College in Harrison. Each workshop will begin at four and continue until seven.
The purpose of the Shoreline Management Plan is to establish policy and furnish guidelines for the protection and preservation of the environmental characteristics of Bull Shoals Lake's shoreline while maintaining a balance between public and private shoreline uses. The planning process will include an analysis of potential effects on the natural and social environment including fish and wildlife, recreational opportunities, economics, land use, cultural and historic resources, aesthetics, public health and safety.
