A Stone County woman was arrested Friday after a domestic disturbance. According Stone County Sheriff Lance Bonds, Sarah McDonald was transported to the Stone County Detention Center on suspicion of aggravated assault.

Bonds says deputies responded to a domestic call from a residence on Coleman Morris Road. When they arrived, McDonald was standing in the open with her arms in the air, and she and the unidentified victim were immediately detained for safety reasons.

The victim told deputies McDonald had been drinking whiskey and beer since 11 that morning. She allegedly followed the victim into his residence, became violent and began choking him with both hands around his neck. The victim says he broke free, ran into his bedroom and shut the door. McDonald was able to enter the bedroom since the door doesn’t have a lock, and the victim claims she cocked a pistol. He says McDonald attempted to point the gun at him when he grabbed it and wrestled it away from her. The victim states he placed the pistol on a shelf in the bedroom as McDonald attempted to regain possession of it. According to the sheriff’s report, the victim shoved McDonald causing her to lose her balance. She fell and hit her head on the wall.

When deputies examined the pistol, a Taurus .38 special, five casings were in the cylinder with one of the casings spent. In addition, sheets were stained in blood, and and a blanket had what appeared to be powder residue. The victim says he was attempting to keep the weapon safe, and it discharged into the bedding.

As deputies were leaving the residence, they were told by the victim McDonald asked him a couple of weeks prior to the incident if he wanted her to “take him out,” and he believed she meant she would kill him.

McDonald was arrested and transported to the Stone County Detention Center without incident. During a post-Miranda interview, she admitted to pulling the gun on the victim and cocking it back when the he grabbed it. McDonald also said her intention wasn’t to kill him but slow him down.
