An Arkansas-based banking corporation with local branches is looking to expand further. Simmons First National Corporation announced the completion of its acquisition of Citizens National Bank headquartered in Athens, Tennessee.
According to Simmons, the definitive agreement was previously announced in May, and approval from Citizens National Bancorp, Inc., shareholders was received Friday. Citizens National Bank will continue its operations in eastern Tennessee as a subsidiary of Simmons First National Corporation until it’s merged into Simmons Bank. The merger and system conversion are expected to occur October 21st.
With the completion of the acquisition, Simmons will have more than 145 locations throughout Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee and Kansas with area branches in Mammoth Spring, Marshall, Mountain View and Branson.
