Bull Shoals Dam will be experiencing another double lane closure later this month. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced it will shut down both lanes of Highway 178 on the dam September 26th and 27th from seven a.m. to seven p.m. each day.
The purpose of the closure is to install equipment needed to refurbish the tainter gates on the dam. One lane will remain closed while rehab work is expected to continue through May 2017, but additional road closures of up to two days will be scheduled approximately every eight weeks to move equipment as the work progresses.
The Corps of Engineers is coordinating with local emergency and law enforcement agencies on the double closure. Anyone traveling in the area is asked to expect delays, obey flagmen and operate cautiousley around equipment and work crews.
