
A Baxter County man was involved in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday morning in Douglas County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 60-year-old Bud Baker of Mountain Home was not injured in the collision north of Ava.
Twenty-one-year-old Merle Cureton of Norwood was traveling southbound on Highway 5 when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck the northbound vehicle driven by Baker. Cureton's vehicle caught fire and came to a rest against a guard rail, and he was taken by a private vehicle to Cox Medical Center South with what were described as minor injuries.
Baker's vehicle had extensive damage in the seven a.m. accident, and Cureton's vehicle was totaled.
