Broken BowThis week, Jason Aldean lives up to his ACM Entertainer of the Year title, debuting at number one on both the country albums chart and the all-genre Billboard 200 ranking. But the Georgia native says winning the coveted ACM crown didn’t really affect the recording of They Don’t Know.

“Every time you go in to record an album, obviously you want to go in and make a great record…finding songs and…that’s always kinda been the way I’ve approached it. I didn’t really approach it any different. Actually, part of the record was done before the award actually came about,” he recalls.

Jason’s seventh studio effort is actually the first time this year a country album has been number one on the all-genre tally. The last to accomplish that feat was Chris Stapleton’s Traveller, which shot to the top spot after last year’s CMA Awards.

“You just try to go and get creative and find great songs and try to make an album that’s cool that you feel like is…different but also sort of similar to what it is that kinda got you to the dance,” Jason says. “So I feel like that’s something that we were able to accomplish in a big way on this record.”

Jason managed to sell the equivalent of 138,000 albums the first week They Don’t Know was out.
