
Sales tax numbers were on the upswing in September for Baxter County and the City of Mountain Home according to numbers provided by the state Department of Finance and Administration.
Baxter County Treasurer Janey Mize says the recently released numbers, which covers spending in July, show a increase in county sales tax revenue of 4.7 percent.

The county numbers continue to increase over last year by 2.9%, or $82,204, a trend Mize hopes continues.

The county sales tax is divided among the county and the eight municipalities, with Mountain Home leading the way with $185,419. Gassville collected $30,953, while Cotter picked up $14,449. Lakeview took in $11,038, Norfork received $7,612, Salesville collected $6,703, the City of Briarcliff netted $3,515 and Big Flat received $1,549.
The City of Mountain Home saw an uptick in sales tax revenue by 4.6 percent, according to Deborah Cotter, city treasurer.

Although the City of Mountain Home has seen a decrease in sales tax revenues for five of the past nine months, the city is on the plus side by $75,629 or 2 percent over last year.
