A man and his ex-wife both pled guilty to drug-related charges as well as endangering the welfare of a minor during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

The incident began on the morning of September 19th when Mountain Home Police received a call from the sister of Casey Sutterfield reporting that she was concerned for her sibling’s safety. She told police that her sister and her sister’s ex-husband, David Sutterfield, had spent the weekend together at a local motel with their two children — ages seven and nine.

The relative said she had lost contact with her sister overnight and was concerned that the ex-husband might have harmed her.

When police went to the motel, they got no response to their knocks and were provided with a door key by motel management. The two adults and both children were found asleep. Officers reported observing used syringes, loaded uncapped syringes and baggies of crystalline substance, along with other drug paraphernalia on a table near the entry door.

The crystalline substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

Both David and Casey Sutterfield admitted to using methamphetamine the night before, but claimed another individual left the drug paraphernalia in the room.

The Sutterfields are both free on $10,000 bond. Casey Sutterfield is to reappear October 27th and David Sutterfield on December 1st.
