Long gets probation for growing pot

    Gary Long of rural Mountain Home will be on probation for 10 years after pleading guilty to drug-related charges in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

    In May, a Baxter County Sheriff’s Office investigator was following up on the 39-year-old Long’s arrest by the Missouri Highway Patrol. Long was reported to have been in possession of a quantity of marijuana at the time of his arrest in Missouri. When the local investigator went to Long’s home, he was given permission to search by Long’s wife.

    During the search, what was described as an elaborate indoor marijuana growing operation was located in a shed on the back porch of Long’s home was discovered.

    Marijuana plants were found inside the structure. In addition, grow lights, drying lines, dehumidifiers, fans, air pumps, air filters, watering devices and seed starters were located.

    A handgun, various smoking devices, marijuana seeds and a jar of processed marijuana were also found.
