A man and woman have been arrested in Boone County and charged with murder in connection with the disappearance of a 28 year old Jeremy Scroggins of Harrison, who had been missing since late June. Boone County Sheriff Mike Moore says 22 year old Shay Butler of Harrison and 25 year old Morgan Vaughn of Jasper are being held in the Boone County jail. Both are charged with capital murder and aggravated robbery.
According to the sheriff, during an investigation by his office and the Arkansas State Police it was discovered Butler and Vaghn had picked up Scroggins and driven to a rural location in Boone County with the intent of robbing him. During questioning, Butler admitted he shot Scroggins during the attempted robbery. Investigators have recovered Scroggins body which has been sent to the state crime lab in Little Rock.
Sheriff Moor will hold a press conference Wednesday afternoon at 3 regarding the arrests of Butler and Vaughn.
