A fire destroyed a residential structure Tuesday evening in rural Baxter County. According to the Oakland/Promise Land Fire Department, the family home of Tina Ojile and John Cruse on L & L Ranch Lane was a total loss.
The Baxter County Central Dispatch Center received a report from one of the owners saying they arrived home to find the residence on fire. They had a burn pit burning, and while they were away, the fire spread and went under the house trailer.
Cruse was reported to have sustained burns to the left side of his face, both hands and the arms. He was taken to Baxter Regional Medical Center, later transferred by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield and then released.
Everything inside the residence was destroyed by the fire. The family is in need of large and small appliances, furniture, technical items and bathroom necessities. They also need clothing for the father, the mother, daughters ages ten and 11 and a ten-year-old son. A fund is set up for the family on gofundme.com, and anyone on Facebook can look for John Cruse and bring up his post. For more information, contact Linda Stampehl at 314-520-5223, John Cruse at 870-421-6066 or Tina Ojile at 870-321-1354.
The Oakland/Promise Land Fire Department was assisted in the response by the Clarkridge Fire Department.
