
The Mountain Home City Council met in regular session Thursday night with all council members present. Two agenda items, an ordinance to annex property contiguous to water and sewer improvement district 3 to the city as commercial C-2 and an ordinance to make the Baxter County Heritage Center the archives of record for the city were tabled for a future meeting.
An ordinance to set fishing rules and regulations to prevent over fishing of the lake in McCabe Park was passed unanimously by the council. Councilman Dave Almond made a motion, seconded by Councilman Don Webb, to put an emergency clause in the fishing rules and regulations, by-passing the 30 day requirement for the ordinance to go into affect was passed with Council Member Nancy Osmon and Rick Pierce voting against.
By voice vote the council unanimously agreed to hire Ballard and Company to audit the general fund for years 2015, 2016 and 2017, rather than utilize a legislative audit by the state as has been done in the past.
Resolutions to maintain the 2 mill city tax on the county tax collector’s books for the forthcoming year and to destroy certain city records was passed unanimously by the council members.
During the meeting, Mountain Home Police Chief Carry Manuel recognized the Mountain Home Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association and thanked them for their fund raising efforts which has enabled the police department to equip all full time officers with tazers.
The next regular meeting of the Mountain Home City Council is scheduled for Thursday, October 20.
