The Donald W. Reynolds Library Service Baxter County will host Teen Read Week Sunday through Friday. Teen Read Week is a national adolescent literacies initiative created by the Young Adult Library Services Association and held annually in October to encourage all teens to be regular readers and library users.

The week begins with Book 2 Movie Marathon on Sunday afternoon from 1:30 to 4:30 where books come to life on the big screen.

Monday’s program is upcycle magazines during Makerspace teen time from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m.

Tuesday is Skype with author Lauren Kate, an international best selling author of young adult fiction, from five to six.

Wednesday is book spine poetry day, an all day event where titles of favorite books will be turned into poetry.

Thursday features reading heroes from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. Teens will read their favorite picture book to children in the children’s library.

Friday is a teen department fund raiser from 6:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Teens will read a good book while raising money for teen department programming.

All events are free and open to teens in grades seven through 12. For more information, contact Teen Librarian Diane Porter at 870-580-0703, or email diane.p@baxlib.org.
