Nearly 18 percent of Baxter County voters cast early ballots

     Twin Lakes Area residents showed up in high numbers during the first week of early voting for the November 8 General Election. Baxter County Clerk Canda Reese says the week ended with 5,161 early votes cast in the county or nearly 18 percent of the registered voters casting their ballots at locations in Twin Lakes Plaza and the courthouse. Friday, 958 votes were cast at both locations and Saturday, 300 voters came to the courthouse to cast their ballots. Reese says Saturday, over 100 votes were cast in the first hour.

     Marion County ended the first week of early voting with 1685 votes cast, Izard county recorded 776 early votes and Fulton County had 1,155 voters cast their ballots in early voting.

     Early voting in the state will continue until Monday, November 7 at 5 p.m. In Baxter County, early voting is at the courthouse Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and at Twin Lakes Plaza Monday through Friday from 10 am. to 4 p.m. Marion County and Fulton County voters can cast their ballots during the early voting period at their county courthouses Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Izard County voters can vote early at Ozarka College in Melbourne Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.   Early voting will also take place in Horseshoe Bend on Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
