Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery is notifying the public of a registered sex offender is now residing in the Promise Land area of Baxter County. The sheriff says 78 year old Fredrick John Scott, who lives at 126 Ripple Rock Road, has not yet been assigned a risk level by the Sex Offender and Risk Management Office.
According to the sheriff, Scott was arrested for child molestation in Missouri in June of 2010 and convicted in February of last year of an amended charge of endangering the welfare of a child involving sexual conduct. Scott is currently on probation, according to the sheriff, and details of the offense are not available at this time.
The sheriff says Fredrick John Scott is not wanted by law enforcement at this time and this notification is not intended to increase fear, but rather it is the sheriff’s belief that an informed public is a safer public. This information cannot be used to threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders and such abuse could potentially end law enforcement’s ability to do community notification.
