
Thursday’s Veterans Fair and Barbecue at Arkansas State University-Mountain Home included a country music legend. Larry Gatlin headlined the Heroes and Legends Concert at the Vada Sheid Community Development Center.
Prior to the show, Gatlin told KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News he has ties to the Twin Lakes Area.

Gatlin adds his friendship with Twin Lakes Baptist Church Pastor Sam Bailey and his wife, Annette, began with a medical procedure.

Thursday’s concert at the Sheid was a free event to all veterans in attendance. While Gatlin and his brothers did not serve, their father is a Marine currently not on active duty. Gatlin also visits the Vietnam Memorial when he’s in Washington, D.C., partly because he has friends whose names are on the wall. Gatlin says he tries to honor military veterans with shows similar to Thursday’s Heroes and Legends Concerts, and he is also a regular on the USO Tours.
