A Horseshoe Bend woman is back behind bars in the Izard County Jail, this time without bail, according to Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence. The sheriff says 23 year old Codi Schales was rearrested after being released from the Izard County Jail on charges of trying to smuggle drugs hidden in a chess set to her brother, Johnny Schales, who was being held in the jail. Her previous bond had been set at $10,000. A spokesperson from the Izard County Sheriff’s Office was unclear on the new charges against Schales.
The brother and sister were charged with felony conspiring to bring prohibited articles into the Izard County jail and misdemeanor charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor who was used to deliver the chess set to the jail. A detention officer at the jail noticed the bottom of the chess set had been removed and reattached.
