(AP) – A St. Louis-area businessman and three other men will have a
detention hearing Tuesday in federal court in St. Louis after being accused of
kidnapping and beating a man over three days.
BAM Brands CEO Todd Beckman and three others – Kerry Roades and brothers Blake
and Caleb Laubinger – remained in custody Monday after being arrested last
Thursday and charged with kidnapping.
Court records say the man was held Nov. 21 to 23 and released after his
parents paid about $27,000 in ransom money.
Beckman’s lawyer told The Associated Press that his client will plead not
guilty.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Blake Laubinger’s lawyer also said
his client will plead not guilty, while Caleb Laubinger’s lawyer did not respond
to a message.
An attorney for Roades did not immediately return a call from the AP.
