Several highways to the south and west of Mountain Home are snow covered, according to the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department. Highway 5 South shows snow beginning at the Sheid-Hopper Bypass, then clearing up just before Calico Rock. The snow coverage picks back up from south of Calico Rock through Mountain View. 62/412 through Fulton County is covered. Southbound Highway 167 from Ash Flat to Batesville is snow covered as is the southern portion of Highway 69 just south of Cushman. Heading to the west on 62/412 from Pyatt to Harrison there is snow. Highway Seven is covered from South Lead Hill all the way to Hot Springs. Highway 65 South is seeing snow from Harrison to Damascus. The Mountain Home area has a twenty percent chance for snow today. There is a 50 percent chance of snow for Searcy and Stone counties where there is a winter weather advisory until 3 this afternoon. There are a number of cancellations in the listening area, Melbourne, Rural Special and Mountain View schools are closed. All Ozarka College campuses are closed as well as the Baxter County Adult Education Center. Cabool, Calico Rock, Izard County, Jasper, Mansfield, Marshall, Mountain Grove, Mountain View, Mountain View-Birch, Norwood and Willow Springs Public Schools are all closed for today.
The forecast shows to be clearing up in the Twin Lakes Area later in the evening, however it will be dangerously cold at 9 degrees.
