Busy basketball schedule set for Monday

Two area high school boys’ basketball teams will begin play in the Sparta Trojans Basketball Classic on Monday. Bakersfield tips off against top-seeded Fair Grove at 6:00, and Forsyth meets the host team at 7:30.

Dora’s boys will play their opener in the Family Pharmacy Panther Classic at Mountain Grove. The Falcons will be paired with Hartville at 6:00.

Elsewhere, Norfork hosts Hillcrest, Bakersfield’s girls entertain Mountain View-Liberty, the Gainesville girls travel to Hartville, Lutie is home against Greenwood, Dora’s girls make the trip to Plato, the Melbourne girls host Hoxie, and Jasper heads to Deer.

The games between Bruno-Pyatt and Western Grove at Eros have been postponed until Thursday.



Two junior high games will be played at the Harold Ray Jeffrey Gymnasium in Calico Rock as the Izard County Invitational Tournament gets underway. The girls’ game tips off at 5:30 between Mammoth Spring and Izard County, and the host Junior Pirates will compete in the boys’ contest against Cave City at 6:45.

In other junior high basketball, Cotter entertains Yellville-Summit, Mammoth Spring’s boys are home against Sloan-Hendrix, St. Joe travels to Lead Hill, Timbo makes the short trip to Fox to face Rural Special, and Omaha heads to Green Forest.

All of Mountain Home’s junior high teams were scheduled to play Bergman at the Hangar, but the games have been cancelled.
