
Two area high school boys’ basketball teams began action Monday in the Sparta Trojans Basketball Classic. Bakersfield fell to top-seeded Fair Grove 87-31, and Forsyth defeated the host school 59-34. Bakersfield meets Sparta in Friday’s consolation semifinals, and Forsyth will take on Fair Grove in the semifinals.
Norfork picked up a pair of high school victories at home over Hillcrest.
The Lady Panthers invoked the mercy rule in the girls’ game as they routed the Lady Screamin’ Eagles 93-33. Norfork improves to 30-1 on the season.
Norfork followed up with a 65-42 over Hillcrest in the boys’ contest.
Gainesville’s girls continue their unbeaten season as they went into Monday’s game ranked third in Missouri’s Class 2. The Lady Bulldogs beat Hartville by a final of 47-36. Gainesville’s record is now 17-0.
Cotter’s junior girls had a rough outing at home. The Junior Lady Warriors lost to Yellville-Summit 46-19.
Mountain Home Christian Academy suffered a pair of home losses to Springfield.
The varsity game ended with the Eagles falling to the RUSH 73-49. Bradley Taylor led Mountain Home Christian with 16 points, and Matt Woods added 12.
Mountain Home Christian also lost to Springfield 50-41 in the junior varsity game. The J.V. Eagles were led by Trenton Cox with 15 points.
