
Norfork was able to pick up a sweep of three basketball games Tuesday at Timbo. The senior boys’ game ended with the Panthers defeating the Tigers 51-46. In the senior girls’ contest, Norfork tripled up Timbo 63-21. The evening began with Norfork’s junior girls topping Timbo 55-14.
Yellville-Summit lost a pair of high school games at home against Huntsville. The Panthers fell to the Eagles in the boys’ game 43-33. Yellville-Summit’s senior girls also lost to Huntsville 58-45 as Abby Helmke led the Lady Panthers with 15 points, and Justina Jenkins added 14.
Mammoth Spring picked up one win in three home games against Izard County.
The Cougars clinched the 2A/1A-3 district championship in the senior boys’ game with a 52-46 victory over the Bears. Mammoth Spring was led by Logan Skaggs with 23 points, and Sagen Godwin chipped in ten. For Izard County, Justus Cooper and Taylor Reynolds scored 14 points each, Dallas Farmer finished with 12, and Tanner Brooks had ten. The Bears fall to 18-7 on the season and 8-3 in the district. The Cougars improve to 24-8 and 13-0.
Mammoth Spring did not fare any better in the senior girls’ contest as they lost to Izard County 63-33. Bailey Hocum was the Lady Bears’ top scorer with 13 points. Kennedy Cooper ended up with 20 points for the Lady Cougars, Sam King had 14, and Jen King added 12. Izard County is now 22-4 on the year and 11-2 in the 2A/1A-3.
Mammoth Spring’s lone win was in the junior girls’ game as they beat Izard County 30-26. Laney Rider led the Junior Lady Cougars with 22 points.
Mammoth Spring will head to Lynn on Thursday to take on Hillcrest.
Gainesville’s boys lost their opener in the Sparta Trojans Basketball Classic as Fordland posted the 71-45 decision. The Bulldogs will move on to Friday’s consolation game when they meet Lighthouse Christian.
