
The Mountain Home High School basketball teams split their games at home Tuesday night against Morrilton in 6A/5A-2 District action.
The Lady Bombers posted a 53-30 win. Morrilton scored the game’s first two points then Mountain Home reeled off 17 straight points and were never challanged the rest of the way. It was 34-13 at halftime and 45-20 after three quarters.
Hannah Pfiefer hit five three pointers and finished with 15 points while Vinessa Daniel added 10. The Mountain Home girls are now 13-11 on the season and 6-3 in district play.
Morrilton drops to 8-16 and 2-8.
In the boy’s game, Morrilton pulled away in the second half for a 63-44 win. The Devil Dogs scored 27 points in the first quarter but after Mountain Home switched to a zone, Morrilton only scored eight in the second quarter but led 35-28 at the break and went on to the 19 point win.
Keiondre Jefferson, Morrilton’s leading scorer, was held to two points in the first half but exploded for 19 points in the second half to lead four Devil Dogs in double figures. Morritlon improves to 14-8 overall and 8-1 in league play.
David Wehmeyer paced Mountain Home with 16 points as they fall to 9-14 overall and 4-5 in the 6A/5A-2.
Mountain Home will return to action Friday night with a trip to Beebe.
