Two Harrison residents have been charged with felony theft theft of mail following their arrest for domestic battery in Newton County. Boone County Sheriff Mike Moore says Mark Vanderpool and Colista Turner were transported to the Boone County jail where there bond was set at $25,000 each. Vanderpool was released after posting bond and Turner is still being held at the jail.
According to the sheriff, during the arrest of Vanderpool and Turner a plastic bag containing mail from 24 different Boone County addresses. The mail included credit cards, checks and tax return information.
The United States Postal service has been contacted and they are now part of an ongoing investigation into the mail thefts.
