Smoking in bed is suspected as the cause of a fire that destroyed a resort cabin near on Cranfield Road and badly damaged an adjacent unit Wednesday night. Northeast Lakeside Fire Chief Henry Porter says the fire at Cranfield Bungalow Resort was reported at about 7 p.m. The property is owned by Harold and Ron Booy.
Porter says although the fire remains under investigation, smoking in bed is suspected as the cause of the blaze. He says no one was in the cabin at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
Firefighters from Gamaliel and Henderson provided assistance to the Northeast Lakeside Fire Department.
