The Cotter High School girls’ basketball team had a rough outing Thursday as they hosted the semifinals of the 2A-2 Conference Tournament. The Lady Warriors fell to Marmaduke 57-52. Cotter will play in Friday’s third place game at four p.m.



The semifinals of the 1A-2 North Conference Tournament were held at the Bobby D. Hulse Gymnasium in Norfork.

The host and top-seeded Lady Panthers were able to advance to Saturday’s championship game. Norfork topped Calico Rock 62-29.

Izard County will be the Lady Panthers’ opponent after they beat Mammoth Spring 69-37. Terra Godwin was the Lady Bears’ top scorer with 17 points. For the Lady Cougars, Kennedy Cooper had 21 points and 21 rebounds, Harley Thomason finished with 12 points, and Kristen Caraway added 11 points. Mammoth Spring falls to 15-16 on the season, and their next game will be Thursday in the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament at Calico Rock. Izard County’s record is now 29-5.

Norfork fell in the boys’ semifinal to Izard County by a final of 74-61. Taylor Reynolds paced the Cougars with 26 points, and Justus Cooper chipped in 23. Izard County is 18-10 on the season.

The Cougars’ opponent for the title game will be Mammoth Spring after they defeated Calico Rock 51-47. The Bears were led by Logan Skaggs with 19 points, Sagen Godwin scored 17, and Brett Mayfield ended up with 12. Mammoth Spring is now 24-8 on the year.



Both of the number one seeds were defeated in the semifinals of the 3A-1 East Conference Tournament at Mountain View.

Yellville-Summit’s boys were able to pull off the 61-58 upset over Marshall. Cameron Curtis was the Panthers’ leading scorer with 16 points, and Seth Evans, Joe Bryant and Jacob Gentry each finished with 12. For the Bobcats, Jacob Loggins had 24 points, Andrew Phillips scored 16, and Garrett Harris added 11.

Yellville-Summit will be paired with Valley Springs in Saturday’s finals. The Tigers were able to get past Clinton 62-45. Marshall will play the Yellowjackets in the third place game.

Top-seeded Valley Springs suffered an upset on the girls’ bracket. The Lady Tigers fell to Clinton 57-53.

The girls’ championship contest on Saturday will feature a battle between Yellowjackets after Mountain View topped Bergman 44-28. The Lady Panthers will be Valley Springs’ opponent for third place.



A pair of area teams were in Greers Ferry competing in the semifinals of the 1A-2 South Conference Tournament at West Side High School.

Timbo was eliminated from the boys’ bracket. The Tigers fell to Concord 76-65.

Rural Special’s girls were able to move on to Saturday’s title game. The top-seeded Lady Rebels beat Midland 62-46, and they’ll face Concord this weekend.



Elsewhere, Gainesville’s girls ended the regular season by winning their fourth consecutive Summit Conference title. The Lady Bulldogs invoked the mercy rule as they routed Conway 65-20.
