
The Mountain Home High School girls’ basketball team began the postseason Saturday on a winning note. The Lady Bombers opened the 6A-East Conference Tournament by defeating Searcy 48-42 in the Hangar.
Mountain Home dominated the first half as they quickly took a double digit lead and went into the locker room up 15 at the break. The Lady Bombers’ struggled in the third quarter as the Lady Lions began inching their way back. Searcy’s sixth man Ta’Lor Branch took control in the final period the Lady Lions cut the margin to three. However, Mountain Home was able to hold on to their lead as Searcy was eventually forced to foul, and the Lady Bombers went on to win by six.
Vinessa Daniel led Mountain Home with 23 points, and Maly Tabor added 12. For the Lady Lions, Branch scored 15, and Emily Housley chipped in ten.
Searcy falls to 8-19 on the season, and they’ll host Jacksonville Tuesday in a consolation game. The Lady Bombers improve to 17-11, and their conference semifinal game will be Tuesday at Marion.
