There was plenty of high school basketball in the Twin Lakes Area Saturday including the conclusion of the 1A-2 North Conference Tournament at the Bobby D. Hulse Gymnasium in Norfork.

After having a one-point lead at the break, the host Lady Panthers pulled away for a 64-43 victory over Izard County to take the girls’ championship. The Lady Cougars were led by Jen King with 18 points. Top-seeded Norfork improves to 35-1 on the season, and they’ll play Wednesday in the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament at Calico Rock. Izard County falls to 29-6, and they’ll meet Rector on Thursday.

Number one seed Izard County fared better in the boys’ title game as they beat Mammoth Spring 49-44. Sagen Godwin and Logan Skaggs were the Bears’ top scorers with 14 points each. For the Cougars, Taylor Reynolds had 23 points, and Tanner Brooks added 13. Mammoth Spring drops to 24-9 on the year, and first regional opponent will be Rector on Thursday. Izard County is now 30-9, and they’ll be paired with Armorel Wednesday night.



The 3A-1 East Conference Tournament came to an end at Mountain View.

Yellville-Summit’s boys went into the tournament as the number five seed and was able head back to Marion County with the championship trophy. The Panthers edged out Valley Springs 42-40. Yellville-Summit will play Wednesday in the Class 3A Region 3 Tournament at Carlisle, and the Tigers’ first game will be Thursday

The host school kept the girls’ title after a battle between Lady Yellowjackets. Mountain View topped Clinton 59-47. Mountain View’s first regional game will be Wednesday.



Rural Special’s girls fell short of a championship in the 1A-2 South Conference Tournament. The top-seeded Lady Rebels lost to Concord 68-41. Rural Special will be at Mount Vernon-Enola High School Thursday for its first game in the Class 1A Region 3 Tournament.



The postseason got underway in Missouri as Bakersfield began hosting the Class 1, District 4 Tournament.

The host Lions won the last boys’ game of the day by a 61-42 decision over Lutie. Bakersfield advances to Tuesday’s semifinals with a record of 9-17. The Indians will finish their season and 5-18.

The Lions’ next opponent will be Dora after they eliminated Chadwick 64-49. The Falcons improve to 11-13 on the year.

Bakersfield did not fare as well in the girls’ bracket as they lost to Couch 47-39. The Lady Lions wrap up the year with a mark of 7-15.

Lutie’s girls were also one and done in the tournament as they fell to top-seeded Bradleyville 78-26. The Lady Indians finish the season and 0-21.

Dora will be Bradleyville’s next opponent on Monday. The Lady Falcons got past Niangua by a final of 45-29. Dora’s record improves to 13-12.



Gainesville’s girls won their opener in the Class 2, District 4 Tournament at Sparta. The top-seeded Lady Bulldogs pounded the host Lady Trojans 59-37. Gainesville improves to 26-1 on the year, and their next game will be Tuesday when they face Plato in the semifinals.



The Ava girls watched their season come to an end in the Class 3, District 10 Tournament at Cabool. The Lady Bears fell to Willow Springs 56-41. Ava’s final record is 7-17.
